I have had a tough time this year watching my Chicago Bears, and I don’t mean because they’re a bad team. As a veteran of 25 years in the United States Marine Corps, I feel the NFL players are disrespecting me. Refusing to stand for the playing of our National Anthem dishonors all those who have been buried under its colors. Less than a handful of NFL players have served this country in any way at all. They, like so many Americans today, are only takers. What have any of them given to this country. Oh, they’ll say we work in areas of the poor and give our time. Their time as long as someone has a camera to record and show during games. They’ll say we have given money to help others. Yeah, that’s tough to do, especially when you give thousands and make Millions.
I still remember an America where our young went to places in the world to offer a helping hand, such organizations as The Peace Corps. Does anyone under the age of 50 even know they exist? I would be shocked to learn that a young person today, going to college even know who they are.
We have become a country of takers. That is why millionaires playing a game can disrespect me, my country, my flag and all those who have given something back to this great nation.
I fought for and will defend with my life anyone’s right to peacefully protest. If these men want to protest injustice, then why don’t they march with the regular folks who are doing so. If someone like Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger marched with African Americans in the streets that would gain attention. Or better yet, how about the entire Pittsburgh Stealers team getting together to march on their day off. That would make national news, you can’t disagree.
You won’t see that because it’s easier to take a knee than give up some of your own time for a cause.
I have to make a decision on all this. My decision is. As long as they kneel, my TV will be off for Veterans week. It’s not much, but I need to make a stand. I need to suck it up and I urge all my veteran friends to do the same.
The week of November 11 is Veterans week. I have received emails asking me to not watch any games that week. I ask all my veteran friends, and all those who still believe that America is a shining city on a hill to shut down this disgrace. It is money that drives these players, and it is money that drives the NFL owners. If we stand together then we can make a difference.
One last thing, and this is very important;
If you’re not a veteran, then don’t reply negatively to this opinion. If you’re not someone who has worked in places like Mississippi after Catrina, then stay quiet. If you haven’t taken the time to give of yourself back to this country, and giving money or paying taxes doesn’t count, then you are a taker. You haven’t paid the price that gives you that privilege.

What follows is something we all need to wonder about. Something we all need to know! And it’s all true.
I’ve never seen a NFL player, team, or owner protest domestic
violence, child abuse, animal abuse, rape, or murder. Have you? Ray
Rice knocked his girlfriend out cold in an elevator. Remember that? No
one protested his return to the league after a two-game suspension.
Two games! Everyone knows about Mike Vick. Multimillionaire who fought
dogs to their deaths in his backyard…to make a little extra cash?? I
never remember a team, owner, manager, or player protesting that. Do
you? What about Adrian Peterson? Remember when he beat his child so
badly it broke the skin on the back of his legs? I don’t remember
Kaepernick sitting down for that one, do you? What about Ben
RAPE Roethlisberger who cornered a girl in a bathroom at Georgia College
in Milledgeville and got his bodyguard to watch the door while he raped her in the bathroom? I
don’t remember the Steelers protesting
that one, do you? What about O.J. Simpson? He killed two people,
nearly decapitating his ex-wife, but the NFL still shows highlights of
“The Juice” running his way into their Hall of Fame. Funny how this
works, isn’t it? Remember “L.T.”? Yeah, if you were an 80s person like me
you probably remember Lawrence Taylor. He was a crackhead who liked to
party with 16-year-old girls. I don’t remember anyone protesting his
behavior. Do you? How many people out there remember Lawrence
Phillips? Google him. It will blow your mind. Anyone remember Mark
Gastineau? Notorious wife-beater piece of garbage. No protests against
him that I can remember. But all of the sudden, NFL players are the
moral compass for our country? I DON’T THINK SO! BUNCH OF THUGS!
The following is something you all need to know.
